Hunter HD Elite™ HDE32 Heavy-Duty Wheel Balancer
The Hunter HD Elite™ HDE32 heavy-duty wheel balancer has a diagnostic load roller, HammerHead® TDC laser, patented laser vision system, and a built-in 500 lb wheel lift for truck and bus wheels.

Hunter HD Elite™ HDE32 Heavy-Duty Diagnostic Wheel Balancer

The Hunter HD Elite™ HDE32 is a heavy-duty diagnostic wheel balancer for truck and bus wheels. It brings features from Hunter's Road Force® Elite to heavy-duty service, using a patented laser vision system and diagnostic tools designed to solve vibration problems. The HDE32 includes the diagnostic load roller and the HammerHead® top-dead-center (TDC) laser. It also services car and light-truck assemblies.

Patented laser vision system. The laser vision system scans the rim to find its low spots and capture wheel dimensions automatically, so the operator doesn't have to enter them by hand. From the scan, the HDE32 builds a three-dimensional model of the rim and:

  • Finds weight plane locations.
  • Selects clip or tape weights.
  • Calculates rim runout for a ForceMatch® solution.
  • Finds spoke locations, so tape weights can be hidden behind spokes.

Diagnostic load roller. The roller presses against the tire and measures its entire contact patch. This detects out-of-round assemblies and pinpoints vibration sources that standard spin balancers miss. The HDE32 then shows how to match-mount the tire's high spot to the rim's low spot for a smoother ride and longer tire life.

Dual assembly matching. The HDE32 helps match dual assemblies, which Hunter says maximizes tire life:

  • Opposing high spots. Mounting duals with their high spots 180° apart makes the dual assembly rounder than either assembly alone, which reduces vibration.
  • Matched diameters. An on-screen assembly diameter display helps pair duals of equal size. Mismatched diameters make the larger tire carry more load and cause the smaller tire to drag and wear early.

HammerHead® TDC laser. The top-dead-center laser shows exactly where to place each weight.

Automatic CenteringCheck®. Hunter says miscentering is the number-one cause of improper balancing and customer comebacks. CenteringCheck® monitors wheel centering with every spin to reduce setup errors.

SmartWeight® technology. SmartWeight® picks the best weight placement, allowing more single-weight solutions, less labor time, and fewer weights. On-screen counters track the shop's weight savings.

eCal auto-calibration. The patented eCal system calibrates the balancer itself, without operator input. Hunter still recommends periodic manual calibration.

Touchscreen with real-time 3D graphics. The touchscreen shows live balance results in 3D. Its features include:

  • TruWeight™ guidance for choosing and placing wheel weights.
  • One-touch rim dimensions.
  • Wheel positioning. Touching a weight value turns the wheel to that weight's location.
  • ForceMatch® display of runout values and limits.
  • On-the-fly language switching.
  • On-board training videos.

Built-in wheel lift. The wheel lift raises assemblies up to 500 lbs and helps ensure a proper mount.

Accessories stand. A standard adaptor tree stores oversized balancer accessories.

Designed and built in the USA. Hunter's 3-year warranty covers replacement parts for three years and labor for six months.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is included on the Hunter HD Elite™ HDE32?
The HDE32 includes the diagnostic load roller and the HammerHead® TDC laser. The ink jet printer is on the HDE33 and HDE31, not the HDE32.

What does the diagnostic load roller do?
It presses against the tire and measures the full contact patch to find high spots and runout. This lets the operator match-mount the tire to the rim and fix vibration problems that standard spin balancers miss.

Can the HDE32 balance car and light-truck wheels?
Yes. It's designed for heavy-duty truck and bus wheels, but it also services car and light-truck assemblies.

What is the maximum wheel assembly the HDE32 can handle?
It handles assemblies up to 500 lbs, tires up to 25 in. wide, and rim diameters from 10 to 30 in. Maximum tire diameter is 48 in., or 52 in. without the wheel lift.

Does the HDE32 help match dual tire assemblies?
Yes. It shows each assembly's high spot and diameter, so duals can be mounted with high spots 180° apart and matched by size.

What power and air does the HDE32 need?
It needs 196–253V single-phase, 10A, 50/60 Hz power (NEMA L6-20 plug included) and an air supply of 100–175 psi.

Does the HDE32 need manual calibration?
The patented eCal system calibrates the balancer itself, but Hunter recommends periodic manual calibration.
